EPK - DRAVA RIVER 2012, Masterplan and bridge design competition, Maribor, Slovenia (2010)
A main loop runs along the shore and correlates activities on land as on water, views towards the river and into the city, water is participating to the entire system and ceasing to be an obstacle to an urban continum. Connections, views, ease of access, all addresse to the city center and to the river simultaneously. The study’s area is easily extendable within the city in an attempt of reconnecting the whole together and stimulating the city to participate to the Drava’s flow. The system connects and uses, in sequence, existing spaces. These spaces are not strictly placed along the river. The memory of the Drava is achieved through direct (and indirect) views, sequence of activities and spaces, paving and facade treatments, street furniture, people’s movement and entertainment.
