BENETTON, DESIGNING IN TEHERAN, Competition, Teheran, Iran (2009)
building A: The proposal for this site presents two facade systems. On street level, the double facade creates an arcade inviting the passing through pedestrian to visit the embracing space within. The inside is green, soft and delicate. The facade of the second skin works through gradients of openings that intensify and become smaller as the building moves up towards the dwellings. Overall, the building nicely balances ancient and contemporary architecture.
building B: The building's facade is of a hard, exterior, light-colored marble shell, smooth yet rough and resistant against urban pollution. The building embraces itself like an introvert 'spirit', unfolding towards the pripvate courtyard within. All at once, the building incorporates and represents the urban fabric of Tehran.
