AOB HOUSE, Interior Design, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2008)
AOB is the renovation of a typical Dutch apartment in a Rotterdam Oude Noord building from the 30's. The apartment is spread out on two levels namely the 1st and the 4th. Internal stairs shared by two families connect and unify the space. On the first level, all partitions are erased while preserving the classic in-spine set of services. A translucent polycarbonate wall divides the bathroom from the rest of the space, while living room, dining room and atelier are merged into the same big open space. In this apartment there is no sleeping room, as the bed is mounted on wheels and can be placed every moment in a different spot. On the level above, the small space is exploited to the maximum: the only partition is used for the bathroom with an exposed translucent shower box projected into the living area. This minimum environment benefits from a generous roof terrace which opens onto the internal courtyard.
